Happy Halloween!

As I have mentioned before, Halloween isn't a big thing in Malaysia. So far I have only heard of 2 big Halloween parties being advertized on the radio. Aside from that, I do not know of any other party. None of my friends or colleagues are throwing one either. :|

Well, since it is THE day. I decided to do one more Halloween-y manicure just for fun. I was thinking to do a cutesy one or maybe a colorful one but work and the new puppy ta home got the better of me. Instead, I attempted this:

A Dripping Blood manicure!

This is definitely easy to do. All you need is a nude nail polish, a red nail polish and a dotting tool of some kind. Tooth picks, pencils, pins - anything goes! At first I was kind of sad that the blood did not look neat enough then it hit me - it's blood. It need not be neat right?

I did not wear this manicure for long. In fact, i removed it as soon as I was done taking photos of it. Looking at it really made me nauseous. Which is surprising to me as I was never afraid of blood. :S Probably the idea of having blood covering my finger reminded me of some horrific, gut churning crime from the many episodes of CSI I have watched.

If you are wondering why my skin looks so pale here, well, it is because I used flash in the photos above. Without flash the red doesn't come out as dark and blood like. It comes out a nice bright red instead!

Well, one more for the go! Here's to a great time Trick or Treating!

Cirque XX Take 2

This is the last of the guess what camera is this series. On Monday I posted this same manicure taken with a different camera and it came out really pinkish with the glitters all looking very blue. Today, the very same manicure looks more muted but the glitters are popping!

You can actually see the different colors of the glitters with this camera! The gold and pink and greens are picking up well here. And of course - the rainbows! *swoon*

Can you guess which is the camera and which is the phone? The answer will be after the jump!

Cirque XX

I thought my holo pink manicure needed a little bling since it was somewhat neutral looking against my skin. I looked through my drawers of polish and found the gorgeous Cirque XX sitting there still untouch. The horror!!

This glitter topper by Cirque is definitely a stunner! It is a rainbow confetti made with over 20 different types of holographic glitter *20! Gasps!* In the bottle it is really very pastel. Having most of the colors being pinks and purples. But once on my nails, XX seems to lean more towards blue and green!

The combination of these two polishes is definitely super duper blingy. I had a colleague or two suddenly stop me to look at my fingers while passing by me in the corridors! Definite win!

Ozotic 607 Take 2

I just found these photos in my new photos folder and realised they are Ozotic 607 as well! If it wasn't for the fact that these are my hands and taken 2 days apart I wouldn't have known that they were the same!

When I first saw them I was kind of confused with the two. But after I looked at them long and hard and realised that they were in fact the same and taken just days apart. The only difference - the camera used.

I do not own a DSLR camera or have the means to get one anytime soon so my camera choices are a cheap point and shoot compact camera and the camera on my new iPhone5.

Do you think you can guess which post came from which camera? I certainly was amazed when I found out!

Wearing Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. I, for one, am really lucky to have not lost anyone to this cancer so far. But, my dear little dog whom I have had for more than 14 years is a victim of this cancer. So far she is coping well. We have had the cancerous cells removed once before but it came back again after 4 years. This time round it is not looking good. Even the doctors do no recommend her getting another surgery because of her age and fragile health. *sigh*

If you are Malaysian and would like to do something to help those in need, or want to know more about the news and events in Malaysia, just hop on over to the Breast Cancer Welfare Association Malaysia's website. They are a group of women who have come together to support those women who are going through or have went through the complications of breast cancer.

I decided to wear a pink polish in order to show my support for the Breast Cancer Awareness campaign. And my choice of pink - Ozotic 607.

Ozotic 607 is a dusty pink with scattered holographis glitters and particles. I love the color on me as, althought it is pink, it seems really like a neutral polish.

I did not love this polish at first but as I wore it longer I slowly fell in love with it! And the more I look at it the lesser my lemming for Illamasqua Pink Raindrops get.

And before I go - a super blurry shot which shows off the holo in this polish!

Thanks for reading! xoxo

Look ma! My tips are sewn on!

It's October! Time really flies when you aren't paying much attention to it!

Well, as October rolls in, the internet is full of 2 things - pumpkins and Halloween stuff! I am a huge fan of pumpkins, not so much for Halloween though. I live in a country where there is no four seasons and (almost) no celebrations for Halloween. Or maybe they do. Just not in a big scale like how you guys do it in America.

Even though I do not celebrate Halloween in any way, I thought it would be fun to do a few Halloween-ny nails just for fun. First up - Franken-french manicures!

I am usually not a fan of french manicures but I thought that these looked so cute! I actually took inspiration from this design by Jenny a.k.a MissJenFabulous from Polish and Pearls.

Of course I had to have an accent nail! So what I did was to draw a little angry monster of Frankenstein on my ring finger. All I used was a dotting tool and a nail art pen from Barry M (which is fab-you-lous!).

I did realize something though.. My little monster looks more than the Hulk rather than the monster of Frankenstein. I probably should've added some scars to it.. Owh wells..

And even though they look really cute, these were supposed to be monster nails, so here's my claw!

And on a side note, even my boyfriend tends to not give much attention to my nails thought these were interesting. He even flipped it around and said that the little monster looks like a bald bearded man. Well, I say zombie since it has green skin. LOL

Beach Getaway Manicure!

The final step to my beach holiday manicure is finally here!!

Since I was going an a beach holiday I thought to do a mini beach on my tips! I first did a gradient with a light blue for the skies and the beige as the sand.

A crab, a starfish and a seashell was the first thing that came to mind so I did all 3 of those on my middle finger and pinky. And after I then added a coconut tree on my pointer.

I managed to draw all but the coconut tree with just a dotting tool! Best buy ever! The coconut tree was done with the striping brush from my Born Pretty Brush Set.

After all that I topped it all with a coat of Seche Vite. Unfortunately I was kinda impatient with my top coat and smudged my little crab :(

You know the best part of this manicure (aside from the cuteness of course) - it stayed on for 5 days even after I went into the ocean multiple times! At the end of it all, I only had tip wear :) Super awesome!

Half way there!

If you read my last post on my failed mani-pedi session, you would've known that I was going to remove the manicure that I had done that day. Well, this post is my nails half way to what I actually wore to the island!

Instead of going with matching colors I picked a totally different color to go with DS Bold!

I used OPI  My Vampire is Buff - one of my go-to polishes when I can't decide what to wear!

A Quick and Dirty Comparison :)

Well, since I do not have OPI First Date at the Golden Gate I decided it would be a fun chance to do a quick comparison while I pick a color to repaint my nails with.

I grabbed 2 polishes i thought would be good replacements for First Date at the Golden Gate but somehow they just did not go well with the DS Bold I had on. My picks: Color Club Charity Ball and OPI Skyfall. Here you go!

I have Charity Ball on my pointer followed by Skyfall, DS Bold and finally First Date at the Golden Gate. As you can see, the colors I picked were way off from what  First Date at the Golden Gate is. Charity Ball was too brown and Skyfall too purple.

(with flash)

I took a photo with flash just for fun and was surprised at how different the colors look! It seems that my camera adds a whole lot of red to the photo. It actually makes me like First Date at the Golden Gate even more :S

The more I looked at these polishes together the more I love the original combnation. *sigh* The other two polishes just did not seem right to me. Since I do not have  First Date at the Golden Gate or anything similar, I decided to take a whole different approach to this mani.

Want to know what I did? Stay tuned! All will be revealed really soon :P

Online shopping at it's best with Ebates

As most of you know already, I do not live in the US but I loooove shopping online from the US. So far I have been doing quite well, saving up and resisting any impulse purchases.

But when I actually do shop on online US retailers, I will always do one thing - check Ebates. Always. If you have not heard of Ebates already, let me tell you that they are awesome. Well, Ebates is the pioneer and leader of online Cash Back Shopping. Yep, you read it right Online Cash Back Shopping.

For me online shopping in the US is affected by quite a few reasons.
1. Dollar to Ringgit exchange rates, which by the way are at a high right now!
2. Shipping time - it takes anything from 7days to 3weeks if I am really unlucky
3. Discounts! I am a total cheapskate. I usually only buy things on discount only. I don't know about you but paying retail isn't really my thing :P

When all these things are in my favor in comes Ebates to make my purchases even more awesome!

When I make a purchase online with Ebates, I can get anything from 2% to 6% cash back from selected retailers! And if you are not in a hurry to grab stuff from those retailers, you can hold out till they have their double cash back offers, think 4-12% cash back on top of discounts.

Where does all the money go to you ask? Well, after you have made your purchases, Ebates would calculate your cash back portion and credit it to your account where it will be kept and paid out four times a year. Honestly, with all the e-tailers on their list, I am sure I would be getting a whole lot of cash back f I live in the US with my constant online shopping! But nonetheless, even when I am 3000miles away, I am grateful that I can still get cash back when I shop from the US thanks to Ebates! Remember how I said I have not bought much so far, well I dare not guarantee on how things will be like come Cyber Monday!

Owh right! Before I forget - aside from giving you Online Cash Back Shopping to over 1600 online retailers, Ebates also provides you with discount codes when you access the different profiles of the retailers. That's how I do not pay retail prices most of the time! With the discount codes all in one place, I no longer have to google and try a bunch of codes before finding one that actually works. How awesome is that!

Well, I know this has been a lenghty post. But I thought it would be good to share this considering how it is the last quarter of the year and Christmas not too far away. If you are interested, just click on this link and it will lead you to the Ebates website where you can sign up for free. And once you are in have fun shopping and getting cash backs from the ever awesome Ebates!

Not all mani sessions go well..

I only say that because I had a really bad one just before my beach holiday! I was hesitating if I should post this in the beginning but thought - What the heck, I am sure there is a lesson in here somewhere!

My friend and I decided to go for a mani-pedi session before our beach getaway. And of course with groupons, we would get a cheap-ish one. Well, her manicure turned out gorgeous and mine... a mess.

I picked  OPI First Date at the Golden Gate and OPI DS Brgeold as an accent nail. The color combo on the nail charts looked really good together but on my fingers - meh. First Date at the Golden Gate was really patchy and DS Bold was, well, not bold. And as you can see above, my manicurist did not do such a great job at cleaning up :(

As soon as I got home I immediately took out my cleaning brush and cleaned the edges a little and then I noticed how dry my cuticles are AFTER a mani. D:

Cuticle balm made it look better but I was still really disappointed.

If you think I am just being a difficult customer, check out the photos with flash!

All 3 fingers with First Date at the Golden Gate looks different from each other. I totally forgot that it was a jelly-ish polish! And of course I did not expect my manicurist to be OK with patchy nails. I was really holding back the urge to ask her to let me paint my own nails that day. Oh how I wished I picked a different color!

After all that I still wanted to wear it for the holiday but my inner OCD just couldn't take it and I removed it in less than 24 hours. LOL. I will post my after manis soon. Stay tuned!

Monochromatic blocks

Since my days were so monotonous - processing documents and answering calls all day - I thought to do some monochromatic nail art to suit the occasion. I decided to do a striped manicure since my last one turned out quite good.

This was what I came out with:

Very disappointing. I do not know whether it is the polishes I used or that I did not pick the tape off fast enough but.. sigh...

I like the color combinations of different greys and that little pop of holo-rainbows. I used OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls, Zoya Dove, Essence grey-t to be here and Color Club Harp On It

I did try a different combination on my thumb.

What do you think? Should I have done it all in color instead of my monochromatic blocks? One thing though, I am still wondering how the tape peeled off better here than the rest of my fingers :|
