VanityTrove x Avène Pink Carpet Beauty Workshop

Last month just before I left for my vacation, I was invited by the lovely ladies from Vanity Trove to attend the VanityTrove x Avène Pink Carpet Beauty  blogger event/workshop. This was my first ever event as a blogger. I of course was nervous as bananas when I went. No kidding. I didn't even know what to wear. :S

It was held at Cafe Barbera in Bangsar - a place I have never been to. I left home almost an hour early but still managed to get there late no thanks to roadworks almost all the way from home to there. It has been a long time since I ventured to Bangsar area that I had no idea that a lane of road here and there was closed to accommodate the upgrades.

By the time I went in everyone else was already there but the event was only just about to start. I hurriedly found a spot, grabbed a coffee and caught my breath. This was my spot for the day. We each had a mirror, a bowl of water and a small bottle of Avène Thermal Water to ourselves and an array of products on the table to share.

See that lady in the mirror? She (I forgot her name :S) is the lady in charge of briefing us on Avène the company and the brand. Let me see how much I can remember from there!

Well, let me start:

Avène Thermal Spring water was discovered as far back as 1736 by chance in the village of... Avène! Yup. The brand name is the village where the spring water was and is still found. They soon built the first thermal spring facility in Avène to treat patients suffering from atopic dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis, and burns.

Avène Thermal spring water was even brought to the USA for victims of the Great Fire of Chicago in 1871. This was how the packaging looked like back then. Reminds me of a bottle of wine.. Hmm...

And now - a sleek bottle with white and apricot detailing!

Anyways, moving on...

Avène Thermal Spring Water is collected directly at the source. They actually built the factory over the springs and drilled directly into it to ground and bring the spring water directly to the bottling line. The lack of transportation of the water means it retains the properties of the Water, and especially its purity.

There were studies conducted on  Avène Thermal Spring Water and they found that the salt mineral content of it was really low as compared to regular water. The lower the salt mineral content meant that Avène evaporation is slow and there is less tingling and greater suppleness.
Just because Avène Thermal Spring Water is low in salt minerals it does not mean it lacks in other minerals. In fact, the 40-year journey through the Cevennes Mountain aquifer makes the water infused with trace elements and silicates, achieving a perfectly balanced mineral composition ideal for sensitive skin.

There are many uses for Avène Thermal Spring water. Aside from treating serious skin problems, it can also be used on a normal person for everyday use. Just look at the list of things it is being used for below:

I actually use it as a toner and once when my skin was covered in rashes because of a bad reaction to some products I went running to my bottle of Avène Thermal Spring water. 15minutes later my skin was less red and the pain was all gone!

We were hands on with the products at the workshop. Starting from the very beginning (make up removal) to sunscreen. And by the end of it all, my skin was super smooth and supple and it seems brighter too! I learnt something that I didn't know before - you can actually use the Avène Thermal Spring Water as a mask. All you have to do is buy those disposable masks and soak it in Avène Thermal Spring water and place it on your face for 10 minutes.

Yup. That's all the photos I have of the workshop. Everyone there was using some kind of DSLR camera that I was so shy to take out my compact-not-so-awesome camera.

I did not go home empty handed of course! I was given a personalized trove to go home with. What do I mean by personalized trove? Well, I will explain that in another post for you one day. I see this post as getting waaaay too long already.

In addition to the 50ml bottle of Avène Thermal Spring water I got these as well!

I shall go through them one by one but I am sure this product needs no more introduction!

Avène Thermal Spring Water Mist Spray (100ml!)

Avène Thermal Spring Water Gentle Toner

Avène Thermal Spring Water Gentle Gel Cleanser

Avène Thermal Spring Water Light Hydrating Cream from the Hydrance Optimal range

And my favorite product of them all:

Avène Thermal Spring Water Micellar Lotion aka Cleanser and Make-up Remover 50ml

At first glance you would think that it will not work but I have to tell you that it is UH-MAY-ZING! It cleaned up my BB cream with just one swipe!

They actually have much more than just these items that day. I just didn't manage to get them. My table-mates moved way faster than me in grabbing the items. Meh. Instead, I shall list the different ranges and what skin type it is for below.

  • Hypersensitive (Extremely Gentle) for intolerant and allergic skin
  • Cleanance for oily, young problem and blemish prone skin
  • Sensitive White is a whitening program for sensitive skin
  • Hydrance Optimale for dehydrated skin
  • Eluage (Anti Aging) to prevent and correct deep wrinkles and lack of firmness
  • Sérénage (Anti Aging) which restores density, vitality and comfort in mature skin (I think this range is only available through dermatologists)

If you are interested in Avène Thermal Spring Water products, I believe they are stocked in Watsons and Guardian. Being the online shopaholic that I am, I found that Fuardian has an online shop! Just click here to start your shopping!

Once again I would love to thank VanityTrove and Avène for the opportunity to attend such an informative workshop and of course for the products. You have already gained a follower here for sure!
