The 12 Days of Christmas Nail Art Challenge: Day Ten - Santa and Friends

It's my third post for the day!! I thought about it and made a decision to post all my nail art challenge manicures on my blog before the year ended! So, I do apologize if my posts seems a little hasty!

This manicure is one of my favorite I have done in this challenge! It is also the manicure I wore over Christmas and I gotten many compliments too!

Here are my Santa and Friends nail art! There is the little Gingerbreadman, Santa, Mr Snowman and of course Rudolph had to make an appearance too!

I took inspiration from this tutorial on YouTube and tweeked it a little here and there. I really loved how easy they were and how quickly I did them. I think it took me less than 30 minutes to complete them!

Ahh.. How I wish all nail art that was so easy looked so gorgeous each time :)

The 12 Days of Christmas Nail Art Challenge: Day Nine - Christmas Decorations

I'll be honest. I did not really like today's mani and almost did not post this up for 2 reasons.

1. This mani did not turn out as nice as I imagined it to be
2. I only have ONE photo of this manicure. And a bad one unfortuantely.

Well, brace yourselves:

I had the idea of ornaments hanging off the edge of a Christmas tree but somehow my 'ornaments' just did not look nice enough :( I thought of redoing it but work got the better of me. Again.

*sigh* Louanne

The 12 Days of Christmas Nail Art Challenge: Day Eight - Snow!

It's Snow day!! And I (think I) have never seen snow before in my life. Well, not in person that is. Snow is everywhere in Christmas movies.

I took a fairly simple approach in creating this mani. First I painted my nails with a silver foil polish, add some glitter and painted some snowflakes on top of it. Little did I know the simple snowflakes were the hardest part!

I am quite happy with most of them except for the one on my ring finger. I was wondering why my snowflake looked so weird. I only found out later that snowflakes only have six points and not eight as I have drawn it :S Owh did you notice that I have no top coat on? I quite liked the rugged look this had like this.

What do you think? Should I have top coated it? Or does it look OK as is?

The 12 Days of Christmas Nail Art Challenge: Day Seven - Inspired by a Christmas Movie

OMG! It's the 29th and I have 5 more nail art to go! Do you mind if some of my Christmas nail art mani spill over to January!

Anyways, today I have a manicure inspired by a Christmas Movie. I picked A Charlie Brown Christmas as my inspiration because a) I love snoopy b) I love the minimalistic tree that is in the movie. But I have a secret to tell you - I have never watched this movie before. I actually only came to know about this movie last year after Christmas but totally forgotten about it until I had to do this manicure. And since then I have gotten me a copy of it but have yet to watch it being sick and all :(

Here's my take for my manicure!

I actually was contemplating to paint Snoopy and Charlie Brown on my pinky and index finger but wasn't confident enough. I managed to squeeze the little dog house and the tree on my nails though!

Instead of Snoopy and Charlie Brown I just painted random dots and stars in the 'sky'.

Even though this manicure is a tad simple, I still was quite proud of it! Come to think of it, this may be one of my most intricate manicures :D *pats self on back* LOL

The 12 Days of Christmas Nail Art Challenge: Day Six - Santa's Workshop and his List

First up - Happy (Belated) Christmas to all my readers out there! Sorry this came late, but as luck would have it I was sick for the past 3 days. Yep! Sick since Christmas eve D: I am way better now with just a little dizziness still hanging around.

Today the challenge was Santa's Workshop and his List. Well, all I could think of was presents (which I have already done back on Day 2) or Elves. And Santa of course! With that in mind, this was what I came up with!

I have both Santa and elf helper covered here! Tummies and hats accounted for :D

I think it came out quite good. Except perhaps I should have switch fingers for the Santa and Elf tummies as my ring finger is smaller than my middle finger. And also perhaps a silver buckle too :|

Note to self for next year! :D

The 12 Days of Christmas Nail Art Challenge: Day Five - Inspired by a Christmas Carol

It's another day of the 12 Day Christmas Nail Art Chanllenge! Today my manicure is inspired by a Christmas Carol. I bet you can guess which carol I picked!

There are so many carols around but somehow this carol stuck with me. I found this really cute version on youtube of Bing Crosby & Ella Fitzgerald. I honestly have never heard anyone else sing this way!

I chose to do polka dots on the rest of my nails because I was really lost for ideas. I was so tempted to do a gradient on naked nails again but thought that you probably are sick of my naked nails.

I created my little Rudolph by following this tutorial by MissJenFabulous. I like how she makes things much eaiser than they seem!

I actually loved my little Rudolph very much and wore it for more than just 2 days. Which means I was late for the next day. Ahh.. Cute nails just make me happy!

The 12 Days of Christmas Nail Art Challenge: Day Four - Christmas Where I Live

It's the day where I show you how Christmas is like in Malaysia. We, do not have snow and honestly, there is no Christmas-y vibe in the office. We are a more Lunar New Year kind of people.

When I was trying hard to think what is so special about Christmas in Malaysia, I could not think of anything else but the Christmas Tree Lights in iCity Shah Alam. I have never been there personally but I have seen so many photos of my friends there it stuck with me! Here is a photo of the trees at iCity.

I used a dark grey (Cult Nails Blackout) as my base as I thought that it resembles the night sky best!I used a white polish as the base for the trees and added on bright bolors for it to pop against the grey background :)

Looking back at this mani, I sure wished I did more trees. Just 3 just seems a little lonely. LOL!

The 12 Days of Christmas Nail Art Challenge: Day Three - Christmas Candy

All I could think about when it comes to Christmas candy was Candy Canes. Red and green Candy Canes in fact. Are there any other kinds of Christmas Candy around? If there is - Y I NO KNOW THEM?

Lol. Back to the nails.

I was thinking between free handing the stripes or using tape to create the lines of my Candy Canes and I finally picked striping tape because I thought that it would be easier since I wanted to do 2 colors. Once I had my tape on I thought I was going to be a cheat and just end it there 'cause it looked so gorgeous already.

Unfortunately the tape I picked was not red. Boo hoo.

I then proceeded to fill up the gaps with nail polish. Red and green polishes to be exact! This were how they came out.

I would say this is one of my most successful tape manicures if not for the slight bleeding of colors! But honestly, at arms length the bleeding wasn't very obvious. I only really saw the bleeding when I was editing the photos on my computer :S

I think my take on Candy Cane nails this year is a better try than last years Candy Canes. Or rather a more daring attempt with two colors on one nail! Maybe next year I may attempt them again. With tape. Like this. :P

Cult Nails Warehouse Clearance Event!!

Cult Nails™ Warehouse Overstock Clearance Event!

Cult Nails™ has had tremendous support over the past 3 years, and I am thankful and truly humbled by this day after day.  When I conceived the line, my dream was to eventually offer several core colors while introducing and evolving approach seasonally.  Much like fashion designers create lines specific to seasons and trends, my objective was to bring that idea to this industry.  The concept was simple, be a niche brand of polish that brings a little something different while maintaining an appeal to many.  In 2014 we will introduce new shades in smaller sized collections with the idea that many of the colors will be limited edition runs that, once sold out, are unlikely to remain as core colors.

In preparation for 2014, and the new direction we are heading, we are clearing out the warehouse.  We've got several colors ready to be sold between 40 and 60% off!  While several of these colors are amazing, and incredibly unique to Cult Nails™, we simply have too many in the warehouse to adequately prepare for what promises to be an exciting year at the Compound!

Below is a list of colors that will be available at the discounted rate effective immediately!

$7.00:  Ay Poppy!, Feelin' Froggy, In A Trance, Let Me Fly, Party Time, Spontaneous, and Tulum

$6.00:  Baker, Blackout, Blaze, Center of Attention, Dance All Night, Deception, Doppelganger, Hypnotize Me, Morning Glory, Walk of Shame, and You're My Dandy Lion

$5.00:  Alter Ego, Mazo, Swanbourne, and Two Timer

This event will last until December 31, 2013, or while supplies last.  This will be the last chance to get these colors before they are removed from the site permanently, allowing us to prepare for next year!

During the event, and beyond, we will be modifying our Free Shipping policy and requirements.  Starting now, US customers will receive FREE shipping on all orders over $20.00, orders to Canada and Mexico will ship free at $50, and international orders will require $100 to qualify.

As we get ready to celebrate our 3rd anniversary, and begin the transition in concept, we are giddy with anticipation.  2014 promises to be an exciting year for Cult Nails!  Now, if only we could keep that other Cult from confusing people…

The 12 Days of Christmas Nail Art Challenge: Day Two - Presents

I had to pick between Wrapping Paper and Presents for the Day 2 challenge. I thought long and hard and since I can't stamp well at all I decided to go with Presents.

I decided to go simple and did some colored french tips and drew gold ribbons on them to represent the bows on the top of the present.

I used all Cult Nails polishes for the presents and love the outcome. If you look properly you would recognize these colors from a mani I did just last month!

I think I may have a thing for french tips and naked nails. It's only day 2 and I have already done two funky french on naked nails. Fret not, I did not do another french manicure for day 3. But come to think of it, I probably should have.. Hmm...

The 12 Days of Christmas Nail Art Challenge: Day One - Christmas Tree

I'm so sorry I have been away for so long! Work has been really hectic and the fact that a more inferior system has been introduced doens't help much. I have been sleeping as soon as I get back after dinner till the next morning - way more than my usual 6 hours before this!

As much as I would love that December to be a quiet month I am quite sure that it would be as busy as the last month. So, to motivate me to paint my nails I have decided to take part in a Christmas Nail Art Challenge hosted by Jessie from Nailed it NZ.

I will post the nail art I have done probably a few days later than I post on instagram. So if you want to see them earlier I would recommend that you follow me on Instagram.

First up - Christmas Trees!

This is a perfect chance for me to try out a dotty Christmas tree since I saw it last year! I used Glitter Gal White Sparkle as a base and dotted a triangle with some greens I had.

I thought it came out pretty good if you ask me. I wanted to do something more than just glitter gradients on my other nails but somehow nothing felt right. I even took some photos with just naked nails and thought that looked nice.

Heh. Of course I didn't just leave it that way. I do love this simple manicure. And White Sparkle is just gorgeous! Even though there isn't much exposed the rainbows still shine through :D Just look below.
