Birthday Haul

I got myself some pretty polishes for myself this month! After the No-Buy in October, I decided to go slow with the buying. It lasted OK until Black Friday came along! LOL. But those polishes are going to be considered my Christmas presents to myself so I guess it's OK. Right? :P

First up, I got myself a Deborah Lippmann Run the World (Girls) set! I haven't gone crazy and splurged that much on polishes, I only got his because it was on SALE! Back in September, I bought a Groupon which gave me a chance to grab this at RM107 instead of RM287! That is a whooping 63% off!

The set came just in time for my birthday but it wasn't perfect, can you see it in the photo above? How about in the photo below?

The pink polish (I Kissed a Girl) was missing :(

I contacted the seller and they said it was a manufacturers defect and they sent me Pink Blush as a replacement. Not to bad I guess.

Next up I have 2 essence color3 polishes i picked up at a temporary essence stand in the maill. The colors I picked was 06 Ticket to the Show and 01 Midnight Date.

Last but not least I picked up a few polishes from the new OPI holiday collection! I was tempted to buy more than this but I told myself to be good and only picked up Skyfall and Goldeneye.

Wait a minute! I picked up 9 polishes! That's not exactly a few. I think my limit was 10 polishes this month. LOL! Not so good afterall I guess.

Happy Movember!

Oops! I forgot to schedule this post! Better late than never right?

This is my manicure dedicated to the Movember movement where men grow their moustache with the aim to raise fund and awareness for men's health issues. If I am not mistaken the main research right now is the research for prostate cancer. More on Movember and it's causes HERE.

My boyfriend actually decided to not shave for Movember this year. Honestly, although I do support this cause, I am glad that November is almost over and he can finally shave again! I am just sooo not use to him with a moustache!

I used one of my older polishes - e.l.f Desert Haze as the base polish and added a mo' on my accent nail with none other than my new liner I purchase not long ago. :P

One mo' for the go!!

OPI Dulce de Leche

Recently, I have been arranging my polishes by brand and then by color. And guess what - I have much
more nudes than any other color! But looking through my blog I don't think I have posted much nude manicures!

Let me rectify that with this gorgeous nude from OPI - Dulce de LecheDulce de Leche literally traslates to 'Candy of Milk'. I looked it up on Wiki and it sounds awfully like Toffee. I wonder if it's the same thing.. Hmm..

ANYWAYS, back to the polish.

Dulce de Leche is a nice dusty pinkish brown (makes sense?) which is very office friendly. It applied like a dream in 2 coats. I did an accent nail with this metallic pink polish from Skin Food it just says Pedicure Sparkle #01. This too applied easily but I needed 3 thin coats to cover up any VNL.

I wonder.. Which colors are your favorite and which colors do you have most in your stash? Are they the same color or totally different?

Giveaway at Femme Fatale Lacquer!

Femme Fatale is having a giveaway! The prizes are polishes her Christmas Collection!!

Just click on this link to be brought to her Facebook page to join in the fun!

Match-y Pedi

I am not one to be match-y with my outfits. My manicures almost always is from a different color class from what I am wearing that day. Of course I make sure that the colors do not clash too badly!!

Last Sunday when I was in church, I realised that my pedi/shoe combination actually matched the bag I was using that day! Hah! This was totally random!

This combination is actually quite nice. I may wear it again soon :)

I used Ulta3 Hot Springs which I got from the swap with Natalia.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

To all my lovely readers out there!

I am definitely thankful for you ladies :)

Cookies and Cream Take Two!

Hello!! Welcome back!

I'm a little cuckoo recently from work and holidays and falling sick. :(

Anyways, as I promised yesterday, here is my jazzed up Cookies and Cream! I decided to bring out the black glitters in the polish wish a quick tape mani with OPIs Black Onyx.

I thought this added an edge to the innocence of just Cookies and Cream alone.

On my right hand I decided to add the black to the tips instead of the other way around! Yea, I did not use Cookies and Cream on this hand because when I showed my mom yesterdays mani, she did not even notice that there was any black glitters. I also love mismatched nails every now and then. :P

I love how these two manicures, though the difference is so slight has such different looks to it! What do you think? Would you walk around with mis-matched manicures on your hands?

The Hungry Asian - Cookies and Cream

I have a really quick post for you lovely ladies today!

I have Cookies and Cream from the Hungry Asian today! Cookies and Cream is a white milky base with a dash of fine black glitter in it.

I have always loved Kae's (the lovely lady behind The Hungry Asian) creations and have been eyeing this polish as well as Strawberry since I first found out about her. Both these colors were out of stock for quite some time before I grabbed them and I do not regret it at all!

Don't judge, but to be honest, I also made sure I grabbed this polish, even though all I could get that time was a mini, because it really does remind me of Cookies and Cream ice cream - one of my all time favorite ice creams! :P

I have some nail art in my mind to spice up this manicure. Come on by tomorrow to see what I have up my sleeves :)

P/s: I wore 2 coats of Cookies and Cream over 2 coats of OPI Don't Touch My Tutu

DDDino-mite Yoshi!

I got 2 polishes in this post today. From the title of this post, one of the polishes is dead easy to guess which. But anyone wanna take a jab at the second? *hint - I recently got it from a grab bag*

*Please excuse the band-aid. I accidentally closed my room door on my fingers a few days ago and it isn't pretty. Although it was only a bad bruise and maybe a small surface cut, I almost passed out from the pain more than once. D:*

Isn't this combination gorgeous? I especially love the contrast of the yellow and green glitters of Dollish Polish Dino-Mite Yoshi against the orangey base color! Unfortunately this base color hides the red square glitter a little bit. Owh! Anyone can guess what it is yet?

The base polish changes a lot depending on what light it is under and the addition of Dino-mite Yoshi makes that change even more obvious! I believe that it is the fine gold and red fine glitters which are the cause of this!

If you look at the first 3 close up photos here, you can see that the colors are all different and is actually getting darker! The first of the 3 you can see a hint of neon in it, and in the photo above you can see that it is leaning more towards red. Finally the photo below it has turned into a coppery orange.

It also turns to a nice orange-y base under my bedroom lights.

These two (top and bottom) photos were taken not more than 2 minutes apart!

The polish generally looks like this most of the time since I spend most of my time in the office.

Any guesses on the base color yet?

It is Sally Hansen Three-D from the (older?) HD line! Get it? 3-D - DDDino-mite Yoshi??

It is an amazing polish! It applied flawlessly and it had so many color shifts I made sure I looked at it every 10 minutes to see if it had changed. :P

I took quite a few photos in various lighting - some came out quite grainy but the colors are all different so I'll post them all after the jump!

I got some awesome new nail stuff!

I got me a HUGE bottle of base coat and a liner/dotter today!

HAHAHA! Get it??

OK. Jokes aside, I have been reading a whole lot about using PVA glue as a base coat for glitter so I thought that I should give it a go too :)

When I first opened the bottle of glue, it was really really thick so I decided that I had to water it down. So, i busted out an empty mini bottle I had lying around and added 1 part of glue to 1 part water. I mixed it up and went on my merry way of painting my nails.

*Let me tell you this, waiting for the PVA to dry was nothing like waiting for base coat to dry. It takes way, way longer than normal base coat does.*

Anyways, I decided to use OPI Crown Me Already, one of my most chunky glitters to test the wonders of a peel off base on my left hand. And on my right hand I used NYX Mushroom Glitter. I applied 3 coats of each and topped it off with Seche Vite.

I love Crown Me Already! The mix of chunky and fine glitter makes it really interesting. And since all the glitter are the same shade of silver, there is a hidden depth to the manicure.

Mushroom Glitter on the other hand is a nice smooth taupe glitter. It applies really well and doesn't eat top coat. I usually use this polish in glitter gradients as the fine glitters make it much easier to create a smooth gradient.

SV did it again! Shrinkage on the tips I mean.

On to the removal!!

I did not have an easy time getting the glitter off my nails!! I soaked them in warm water for a bit but it didn't work out too well :( I managed to get it all off in the end though. While I was taking a hot shower that is! No photos of the process for you but I do have a few of the glitters.

The 'basecoat' and glitters!

Unlike most bloggers who has tried this method, the glitter did not peel off in one nice coat for me. I don't know if it was because I added water to my PVA glue. =/

But that said, my fingernails were 99% glitter free by the end of my shower! I did not have to pry too hard to get the glitter off. Just a quick nudge on the edge of the polish and it started to come off.

The glitter that did not come off was mostly on the sides of my nail bed and on the tips. I was tempted to scratch this all off in the shower but did not because I was afraid that that would cause extreme peeling to my nails.

Would I do this again? Of course I would! With just straight up PVA glue that is. The thought of not having to use the foil method will be my motivation!

Has anyone tried this method before? I would love to hear your experiences and of course I would like to know if any of you lovelies out there have any tips for my next go.

China Glaze - Unpredictable

I have another China Glaze Bohemian Luster Chrome polish for you today. This is my second of three polishes to show you.

I wanted to pass this off as my blue mani for diabetes awareness but, nahhh, I shall have a blue mani up soon!

Anyways, this is Unpredictable. Just like Swanky Silk, it has an awesome duochrome shift to it! Actually this shifts between more than just two colors. I've seen it glow a nice olive green, teal, blue and even gold under certain lightings!

The color shifts in Unpredictable is waaay more obvious and a tad easier to capture in photos!

I love how you can see the different colors in simple photos just like this!

GOLD! This was under a yellow-ish light I believe. Does this look familiar to you??

*hint - it's from the same collection!!*

I just had to show you a few of it glowing a nice blue too!

I accidentally pushed the polish back and did not realise it till it was too late!

OK. The following photos are the ones that really show Unpredictable very very much different from what you usually see. This was taken under a yellowish light just like the one above but somehow Unpredictable shows up as a dark olive polish with light green highlights!

I definitely would recommend you to pick this polish up if you haven't already! True to it's name, Unpredictable is unpredictable! :P

One more shot for the go!

Ahh~ LOVE!

China Glaze - Swanky Silk

I have today one of the Bohemian Luster Chromes from China Glaze. I only picked up 3 from this collection  because I wasn't sure I'd love these colors as much as I do!

The one polish that caught my eye the very first time I saw this collection was Swanky Silk. Although not as bold as the others I was drawn to it immediately! Swanky Silk is a beautiful pink color that shifts to a bold gold with subtle green flashes!

This polish is gorgeous! Every time I look at it I see something different.

I did 2 coats of Swanky Silk and it seemed just perfect. No VNL was visible in person but somehow it shows in certain photos here.

This is definitely one hard polish to photograph! Wherever I went, I took photos of this mani. And everytime I did, it seemed like a new polish!

Of course I am not going to post all of them here! Most of them are blur and have funny hand poses because I took them in such a hurry. I picked 3 different ones to post. One taken under the evening sun (above), another taken in my office lobby (afternoon sun), and the last one taken under artificial light.

These two photos show the most pink among the rest.

And the photo I loved the most:

At this angle it looks like a really really rich gold! Almost foil like :D

I heard this polish is awesome for stamping. I shall attempt that soon! If I do forget, or take tooooo long to get to it, a friendly reminder is always welcomed!
