From the Vault Series

I just came across a bunch of photos of nails that I have done but have yet to post on this blog. So for the next few weeks I am going to randomly post stuff from the vault.

The photos in the vault are from before I filed my nails to it's current square shape. I used to love the natural shape back then but now I can tell you that I am a convert and will sport square nails for as long as they don't cause me too much frustration (read - accidental scratching!)

I tried to jazz up my green fingers with some piCture pOlish peacock but it didn't live up to my expectations. I kinda picked the colors out at maybe 2am and totally forgot that peacock had a darkened purple base. I kept thinking that it was mask-a-rade that had the darkened base and peacock the clear base.
With flash to bring out the glitter and shimmer in these two awesome polishes!

I now learnt my lesson of picking out polishes when I am more asleep than awake! This wasn't all bad but it definitely wasn't a work friendly mani. I had quite a few people in the office building double taking my nails. LOL.

Cult Nails Feelin' Froggy

I am finally using another polish from Cult Nails!

Feelin' Froggy is an awesome kelly green with green shimmers in it. I am not one to wear green much (I have only two other greens in my collection) but I am loving this shade even though it looks kinda weird on me. Just like Princess, Feelin' Froggy applied flawlessly in 2 coats and I did no cleanup in these photos!

Artificial light

and a bottle shot just 'cause :)

Vote For Purple

This is a quick little tape mani I did over my manicure from yesterday. I used both striping tape and regular tape for this mani. It did not take much time to do this but I am loving my glittery tips. A nice pick me up for me to look at when I'm at work :)

Happy Monday everyone!

Steady As She Rose

Yay for sunlight!

I have been kinda sun deprived this few weeks due to the bad weather here that when I saw the sun I quickly re-painted my nails so that I could get some photos of them in the sunlight.

This is OPI Steady As She Rose from the Pirates of the Carribean: On Stranger Tides collection form last Spring. It is a dusty lavender-leaning pink. It covered nicely in two thin coats. This is 2 coats of SASR topped with SV.

Trio! - Part 2

(Oops! I was so excited to post my new mani I overlooked this post sitting in my draft folder. Better late than never right?)

I try my best to do the same mani on both my hands but sometimes I just like to switch things up a little. In this case, I decided to move my little glitter triangles around on my right hand. This move made the manicure much more discreet. But it does let Twinkle stand out more than it did on my left hand.

Pastel trio!

I've got another trio of colors on my nails today. It is of course a continuation of my past two posts. (Yes, I actually do stretch out my manicures by adding something new everyday.)

I managed to get some photos of this manicure in sunlight while I was out for lunch yesterday. Unfortunately I did not have a chance to apply some cuticle oil before taking these photos. So if you can, please ignore the dried out cuticles and enjoy the colors!

More photos after the jump!

Half and half

This is another tape mani in the making! I quickly added a pink half to my nails after I got back from the driving range, topped it off with some SV Quick drying top coat and hopped into bed. And when I woke - NO sheet marks! YAY!

The pink I used is from the piCture pOlish soft shades series - Fairy Floss.

Mellow Yellow

Just a quick swatch of Mellow Yellow by piCture pOlish before i head out to the driving range for the night!

The formula was kinda chalky on the first coat but it evens out as you apply the third coat. I love the color, very Spongbob-y! It kinda reminds me of China Glaze Lemon Fizz.. Hmm..

I caught a glimpse of the sun today!

This is a quick shot of Mint Chip in the mid morning sun! Slightly blurry because I just woke up at the time this photo was taken. And also I was in a hurry to prep my fingers for my next manicure before the sun goes hiding away again!

Mint Chip

I have Mint Chip from 365 Days of Color to show you today! It's a mint green based pack with small black square glitter. I shall keep it nice and short today. The photos below are of 4 coats of Mint Chip followed by a coat of Cult Nails Wicked Fast.

One thing always happens when I apply glitter polishes - My right hand ALWAYS looks better than my left hand. Just look at the photo below!

Holo Quicky

I had to try on the Ozotic Holographis polishes I just got in the mail from piCture pOlish! And since I was wearing pink from before I decided to just give my previous mani a little more 'oomph' with Ozotic  607.

Sorry there isn't a photo under the sun. The sun has been in hiding the past few days because of the haze and dull weathere here these few weeks :(

I used only 1 thin coat in the photo above and it has transformed my sweet little mani into something very party appropriate!

Bring on the weekend!

A little sneak peek of my newest purchase from The Hungry Asian!

I used 2 coats of My Second Honeymoon from OPI for my middle, ring and pinky finger and layered 2 coats of Belle over one coat of MSH for my thumb and index finger. I love how Belle has a little pink tint to it in this little experiment of mine!

And I did the opposite for my right hand! This photo has a different light to it as it was taken at different times of the day. (My bad! Sorry!) But belle stand out even more in this shot. you can see the fine pink glitter much more here!

essence 67 make it golden

I added some more gold to my manicure for more pizzaz!

Please excuse the tip wear. This is a 4 day old manicure after all. I really feel like keeping this on for a few more days but we'll see :)

Giveaway Time!

There's a giveaway happening at 365 Days of Color!
There will be one set of mini Toxic Love polishes up for grabs!

Hurry on by 365 Days of Color to take part in this giveaway. Oh! And while you are at it, go like Sunny's Facebook page. She will have an announcement as soon as she hits 2500 likes!

The Hungry Asian Again!

No buy month of June sucked! I had to wait forever (read: 1.5weeks) before I aould allow myself to place an order with Kae again.

Anyways, I always loved THA Strawberry from the moment I saw it long ago. But the problem was that it was out of stock for as long as I knew. When Kae posted that she was going to restock Strawberry I was over the moon - for 5 seconds before I found out it was already sold out by the time i checked etsy AND I was still under a No-Buy I imposed on myself. Boo.

Fast Forward 1.5 weeks and there I was placing an order on etsy with a full size Strawberry, a full sized Belle, a mini Cookies and Cream and a mini Vote for Purple. And after 2 more weeks of waiting, they are finally here!

As usual Kae wraps up the polishes very neatly and nicely with a lovely personal note that comes in the package.

My goodies all lined up!

Lightning Bolt

I wore my last manicure for 2 days before refreshing them. This time I decided to go with a simple accent nail. I remember a simple tape manicure at Nailside and thought that I should give it a go. I decided to go Grecian and picked gold for my lightning bolt. Zeus would be proud!

My very own lightning bolt to zap people with! :D

The first two photos were taken under a white light while the next two photos were taken under a more yellow toned light. Which do you prefer?

365 Days of Color

Something is up with the postal service these days. It seems that I am getting my parcels waaaayy faster then I used to just a few weeks ago! Hoho! I'm not complaining here. Just really mystified.

Anyways, on to my parcel of the day is from 365 Days of Color. Look at the pretty padded envelop she used, and that FRAGILE sticker too! Anyways, this parcel came just 10 days (8+2days held at customs and the post office) after I placed an order with Sanaz!

These little pretties were in there~
2 polishes: Mint Chip and Cotton Candy
3 Sunny's Miracle Balm: Cucumber Mint, Cucumber Melon and Eucalyptus Blossom

Glittered tips for me please!

I added a triangle of NYX mushroom glitter to the mix because I had to. No bling no win. Surprisingly there seems tobe a lot of gaps in the glitter polishes here but in real life you can't really see twinkle through the glitter. I'm guessing it's just a matter of lighting here.

I couldn't decide which photo to use. Somehow both photos show my skin in an awful reddish tone. But take a closer look and you can see the shimmer in Princess shining through in the top photo!

Half and Half

Half and Half just like milk!

I loved princess so much that I wore it around as a full mani for 2 days. At the end of day 2 the polish was still quite perfect if you ask me. I was thinking to pair Princess with a pink/purple polish to bring out the pink shimmer more. After going through my stash, I decided to top off my mani from yesterday with a nice triangle of Twinkle from piCture pOlish. Twinkle, like Princess, applies like a dream! I only needed two thin layers to get this look!

piCture pOlish Haul

I have been eyeing piCture pOlish nail polishes for ages now. The first time I ever saw them was actually when I was shopping on Llarowe and I knew I had to get them. It took me long enough to decide on which colours to get but I finally made an order of piCture pOlish polishes from the girls themselves.

At first I was contemplating if I should just pick a few shades from Llarowe since the shipping was a little steep - 25AUD for 1-9 bottles. Eventually the nerd in me did all the calculations and conversions I finally went with piCture pOlish because they were a tad cheaper and a whole lot nearer. To my surprise, when I received the shipping confirmation email there was a tracking number on it! this is definitely the first of online shops that ships international with a shipping number. And that's not where the great news ends - I received my nail mail in 4 days. I kid you not! They even send faster than a local online shop that I had place an order with.

Anyways, on with the polishes:

My little pyramid of Soft Shades: Mellow Yelow, Honey Dew, Fairy Floss, Twinkle and Peaches n' Cream

Opulence Range: Peacock and Monroe

mask-a-rade is no longer all alone!

And last but definitely not least:

Ozotic 604 and Ozotic 607

I am very very happy with the service from the girls. Their speedy response and shipping time has definitely place them in my good books!

piCture pOlish nail polishes can be purchased at the piCture pOlish online shop, Llarowe (US based) and Harlow and Co (Canadian based). You could also check out the Network page to see if there are any piCture pOlish Exclusive Partners in your country.

Cult Nails Princess

I am a newly declared Cultie! I can't tell you how much I love Cult Nails polishes! This is my first time ever trying a polish from this brand and I'm loving it to bits already!

My first pick from my Cult Nails polish Haul is Princess from the Fairytale Collection. Princess is a light dusty blue with a hint of pink shimmer in it. The brush and the formula was amazing! All I needed was 2 thin coats to achieve opacity. This is also a photo BEFORE clean up! I almost couldn't believe my eyes especially after revisiting my last post. :|

This color is definitely a unique color! It reminds me slightly of Essie's Cocktail Bling but Princess is more blue and there is that pink shimmer in it that brings it to a whole different level!

Cult Nails polishes can be bought at their online store. Do follow Maria, the creator of Cult Nails on her blog, Facebook and Twitter for more updates and news on the brand.

Alpine snow

Ahhh.. Bright white nails are the best palette cleanser after deep reds and glittery shimmers!

I used 2 coats of OPI Alpine Snow in these photos. I wore this around for a day or so and decided to do some nail art on it. Lets see if the idea pans out nicely!

Please excuse the polish all over my cuticles, the evil genius was too busy thinking of what to do next to notice the mess she made!

Purple tootsies!

I know not all people like to see toes on blog but I just had to post a picture of my pedi I did that day. But I love the colours on my toes so much I had to post this picture of it!

The colors I used to create this look was Sally Hansen Purple Potion and Essence Time for Romance. I will definitely recreate this look on my fingers when I can locate my bottle of SH Purple Potion. I think I may have left it in my drawer at work :/

Pictures after the jump of course :)

When you hear the brand Crayola what do you think of? Does it bring back childhood memories of you drawing on the walls paper with your besties? Or does it remind you of the time when you got into trouble with the teacher because you forgot to bring your box of crayons for art class?

I know I definitely associate those memories with Crayola when I was younger. Not so much now when I have left school for so many years. BUT I think I might want to include Crayola into my adulthood once again like I did when I was younger. Look at the newest product from Crayola!

Look closely! It isn't another box of the newest colors from Crayola. It's a box of mini nail polishes. No, this is not a photoshopped picture. These are actual NAIL POLISHES!!

I stumbled upon this precious little idea when I was browsing the Fred Flare catalog. They have the most unique stuff but unfortunately they do not ship internationally :(

Anyways, Look how cute this polishes are! The colors do really remind me of some of the crayons that I used back then! And the packaging does take after the paper labels that was around the crayons! I always would be sad when I had to peel the label back on the crayons :(

Hmm.. I wonder if Crayola is as good in making nail polishes as they are in making crayons!

Has anyone out there purchased them already? If you have I would love what your take on these polishes would be. And if you haven't came across them and and want to get some for yourself, you could pop on by FredFlare.com to purchase them!

Hmm.. My no-buy ban ends today.. :P

Strawberry Season is Here!

I painted my nails red the other day and decided to add an accent nail to it. Summer is here and strawberry season is just around the corner, so I thought to do a lil accent nail  the best way to add a lil something to my nails was to paint me a small strawberry while I wait for my chance to pick some actual strawberries up!

I picked OPI Big Apple Red as my base and added the strawberry on my ring finger using a white striper by Precision, OPI Green-wich Village and Gold Pedicure Sparkle from Skin Food for the seeds.

Big Apple Red is a rich creamy red polish. It applies flawlessly in 2 thin coats but if you want more depth just add a third and you'll see how the color changes to a deeper red.

Photographing Big Apple Red wasn't easy to do at all! My camera just wouldn't capture the richness of the polish. I took photos of my hand against a white back ground and almost all of it came out way too dark in the photos. How dissapointed I was. I even tried taking the photos with natural light, yellow light and even took some in my bathroom! In the end, I took the best shot when I had given up. The shot on top was the first shot I took on a black backgraound and the colour is almost as it is in real life.

Up close on my little strawberry accent finger. This shot was the total opposite and produces a more yellow tinge to the nails.

More shots in differernt lighting after the jump!

Happy 4th of July!

Happy Fourth of July to the ladies in the US of A!

I hope you all already have plans to go somewhere to look at the 4th of July fireworks! I remember when I was in the States last year over 4th of July weekend. My friend and I went up to a golf course/driving range on the hill to look at the fireworks. It definitely was a night to rememeber because the last time I ever saw a fireworks show was at least a good 5 years away!

I decided on a tape mani over Zoya Dove that I had on yesterday. I used OPI Alpine Snow, OPI No Room for the Blues and Cult Nails Evil Queen on my tips. I kinda did this really late last night. My lines aren't as crisp as I'd like them and it seems that NRFTBs have bled slightly into Evil Queen and gave my red tips a slight purple hue.

Zoya Dove

A quick post of how my nails are like today. I had to cut them down to nubbins because they were getting a little too long for my liking. I ended up giving myself quite a few scratch marks the few days and it wasn;t fun.

Zoya Dove is a lovely grey color from the Intimate Collection of Spring 2011. It is a light grey creme that leans neither blue or green. Unlike OPI My Pointe Exactly, Dove maintains it's grey hue at all times.

Application was quite easy and was opaque in two coats. Do excuse the dents and dry cuticles in the photo below. I realised that after I took these photos and removed repolished my nails. Unfortunately I forgot to take a photo then. They are now half way through a design I have in mind. Hopefully it'll turn out good!
