Sun Kissed

I decided to cut my nails to a more manageable length yesterday because they were getting a little too long for my liking. My bags were getting scratched really bad and one even had a little peel on the handle. I used some clear top coat to patch it up that day and it worked for a bit. But after using the bag for another 2 days the other side of the tear began to come off as well *sigh*

Anyway, on to my nails today.

I picked up 2 bottles of Sally Hansen polishes from the pharmacy last week. These two are my first SH polishes in a very long time. Usually the SH displays would be filled with top and base coats, straighteners, cuticle oils and polish removers instead of polishes which really wasn't interesting to me. But when my friend had to pop by the pharmacy that day I decided to have a look see at the SH display because my Seche Vite top coat was getting a little goopy and I had to wait for a few days before Seche Restore would come in the mail. To my surprise, althougth the shelves wasn't full with polishes, there was a bunch of brights in the mix. I decided to give SH a go since I didn't own any so I picked up Sun Kissed and Purple Potion.

The formula for the SH polishes were divine! It was opaque in 2 careful coats and the shape of the brushed suited me well. I did not have to do so much cleaning up after. The color on the other hand was a little weird. In the bottle Sun Kissed looked like a great creamy orange but when I applied it on my nail the color was brighter than I expected. It came out to be a little neon in fact! The polish dried shiny but I decided on a coat of SV to avoid dents and scratches.

The difference between the polish in the bottle and on my nails is most apparent in this picture.

Flakie Spam!

As you know from my last post, I received some flakies polish from Llarowe that day. And me being me, I couldn't resist them and HAD to try them on immediately.

The two polishes I got was Ludurana 3-D Flake Flash and HITS Jazz Flake which is no longer available on Llarowe at the time I was writing this post. :(

HITS Jazz Flake has flakies that shift from green to a nice teal in the sunlight. I am in love with the colour and the application was great. I only used one coat of HJZ and as you can see. the whole nail is covered already! You have to be careful though, the polish seems a bit thick for a brand new bottle.

Next up is Ludurana 3-D Flake Flash. Compared to HITZ Jazz Flake, it had much less flakes per stroke. These are actually 3 coats of it in the photos. I think that it might be because of the suspension base being a little watery. I am tempted to leave the cap off for a few minutes to 'dehydrate' it a little but I am worried that it would end up too goopy and cant be used anymore. The color of L3DFF is much more dynamic than HJZ. There are red, green, yellow and even a little hint of blue in them when the light hits them.

My fingers are painted HITZ, Ludurana, HITZ, Ludurana in the photos.

Artificial Lighting

Blurred shot

This is my favorite shot of the polishes which I took when I was on the way home from work!

This is the only shot that shows off the red/orange flash in the Ludurana polish.

And last but not least - a photo taken with the Sierra filter on Instagrm, This photo actually shows off the flakies the best!

OPI Black Onyx has a very good formula. The first coat was a little streaky but it evened out nicely with the second coat. I usually shy away from dark colours but I love how Black Onyx turned out. Its a very nice and warm color.

I Got Mail!

My order from llarowe has finally arrived!

I love how tightly pack the polishes were. I read many horror stories on other nail blogs where their polishes did not arrive safely, even if it was just within the US. When I opened the parcel, the first thing I did was spend a few minutes trying to figure out how to open this little bundle without cutting up the bubble wrap. I soon gave up and just snipped through the top part of the little bundle so that I could reach in and pull the polishes out easily.

My pretties!

Just look at the green and gold flakies in there. How can one not love them right?

Quickie post - It's Pink day!

The weekend is here! And to celebrate (I love my weekends~) I decided to add a pop of femininity on my nails and paint them pink!

I used bright pink from Bloop and a nice baby pink from Baviphat as an accent nail. Photos below!

I love how this pink makes me look much fairer :)

Shopping is fun especially when it's online!

Fun because you can see so many pretty things from all over the world just by clicking on your mouse in the comfort of your home! You'd be drooling over the pretty things online all you have to do is *click* and it's on the way to you in the mail! I had fun today! Nail Fiesta - my favourite online shop selling nail polish within Malaysia - was having a moving out sale starting from today. The owner was moving and didn't want to bring her whole inventory to her new place so she decided to sell them off at a good bargain. How could I stay away from that right? I splurged RM431 for over 20 polishes! I know it sounds really pricey, but after doing some calculations, I saved a whopping 55% off retail prices! Can you believe it! If you are in Malaysia and want to get your hands on some nail polishes do stop by Nail Fiesta soon before all stocks run out! I will list the retail prices for polishes in Malaysia vs the prices I paid on Nail Fiesta vs the prices of polishes during the sale on Nail Fiesta after the jump!

Glittered Tips

The weekend is here! And with that I have some freshly painted nails to ring in the weekend! All I have planned for the weekend was drinks with my friends so I decided to do some gradient manicure. Glitter gradient tips. A manicure which I am quite in love with! It gives me the chance to use my lovely glitter polishes without looking like a over-the-top party girl. I chose China Glaze's Flying High from the Up and Away collection for the base and sponged on a silver base from Skin Food Pedicure Sparkle and topped it off with a layer of OPI Crown me already.

I love how the nails look kinda winter-y although it is not winter anywhere! Except for my office which always has the aircond on full blast even when it is pouring outside!
Close up of my glittered tips :)

After I did the layer of OPI CMA on my right hand I compared both hands and I actually love the bling on the right and the frost on the left. and with that I just stuck with the glitter on the left and just shimmer on the right look. A bit lopsided I know but I loved it :P

I was looking to do something simple and easy this week for work. Something which is girly enough yet has a little edge to it. I took some tips from Jane from the Nail Side and decided to sick with a tape mani. I love Jane's manis, they always seems really bright and cheery and always have perfect lines!
My color combination for this manicure was a light magenta (H110) from Bloop and silver from Skin Food's Pedicure Sparkle collection.

My lines were't as defined as they should. I think I might have applied too much of the silver polish on my nails. Either that or I didn't peel of the tape quick enough :\

That's what I'm calling it from now on! LOL

After seeing so many frankens all over nail blogs, and a small but growing nail polish collection I decided to try my hand at it too! Using polishes that I seldom use as a full manicure and an empty mini nail polish bottles that day for 50sen each I mixed up my own little concoction of a jelly pink.

I loved how it came out. A little pink, a little coral and a whole lot jelly!

In the photos, I used 3 coats of Franken-pink over OPI Base Coat and topped it with 1 coat of Seche Vite. One thing that stood out to me when looking at this pictures was that my nail line seemed to be a little darker under Franken-pink. But it didn't seem so in real life.

I tried to do a jelly sandwich on my ring finger with this new franken and OPI Crown Me Already but it did not come out as I expected. The formula of the franken seemed too thin to cover up the glitter nicely.

But OPI CMA did shine really, really well even under 2 coats of Franken-pink.

If I remember correctly, I filled the mini bottle up to the mid point with clear polish, added a dash (around 10 drops) of OPI Big Apple Red and another 5 drops of OPI I Need Sunglasses.

For The Love of Audrey

I knew I had to polish my nails with both China Glaze's For Audrey as well as Crushed Candy. So, with no further ado, this is what I did!

I am wearing For Audrey on my thumb, middle finger and pinky and Crushed Candy over a silver base from Skin Food. Unfortunately I only realized I did not take any shots of my manicure alone. Oops!

I only own maybe 3 China Glaze polishes and they never disappoint - For Audrey went on like a dream! This is two coats of For Audrey and 1 coat of SV to lock it in. If you were careful enough you could have gotten away with one thick coat.

Unfortunately for me, I don't seem to have much luck with crackle/shatter polishes. I always have hits and misses with them. In the photos you can actually see that Crushed Candy on my index finger is nicely cracked while the ring finger is kinda goopy and bare in some spots.

I took out my only turquoise/light blue patterned dress to go with this manicure for work. And to my surprise, the two were almost identical in color! ♥

I would like some Crushed Candy For Audrey

I just coudn't resist putting those two names together :P

I've been lemming for China Glaze For Audrey for quite sometime now. The Tiffany blue just looks so delicate and sweet - how could I resist! But for the longest time my usual online shop that stocks up on China Glaze didn't have it in stock. Boo!

I lugged my self downtown to a beauty supply shop and was so excited to find For Audrey and Crushed Candy, a crackle in the same exact shade, on the shelves. And of course I had to buy them both!

Guess how much they cost me here in Malaysia?

Fingers Crossed!!

I have been lemming on flakies since I spotted them on nail blogs but they aren't easily found in Malaysia. So far I have only came by Essie's Shines of Times and China Glaze's Luxe and Lush on online shops based in Malaysia. But with my luck, they were sold out by the time I spotted them :( is LOVE! For one they stock up on a lot of flakies from many different brands in their shop and they have a huge collection of holographic polishes from all over the globe. And the best part to me - they ship INTERNATIONALLY at a decent rate. All excited I quickly went thru their shop and picked 2 polishes that interest me the most - Ludurana 3-D Flake Flash and HITS Jazz Flake Nail Polish. When I checked out I was all smiles because my shipping is ----- USD5.96 only!!

Now on to the hard part - waiting for the polishes to arrive safe and sound!

A Quick Post

Last night I decided to paint my nails. At 12am. And this is all I have to show for it. This is 3 coats of Revlon Opulent Pink and 1 coat Seche Vite.

I think the color looks a little too girly for me. What do you think?

My tootsies!

Painted blue and yellow because I thought of a friend while thinking of what to do for my pedicure. These colors are the colors of my friends cheerleading them - Hot Shots!

Instead of just polishing my toes blue or yellow, I decided to paint them randomly and polka dot some the blue toes with yellow dots. Only after i finished polishing all 10 toes did I realize that I actually did the invert of the colors on each foot. I guess my unconscious mind likes symmetry!

Colors used here are OPI Need Sunglasses and No Room for the Blues
